fabulous Surfing, Golfing, nature reserves, night life and more. The Jaco beach area and the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area are the main destinations in the Central Pacific. But, there are also dozens of fun things to see and do for those travelers willing to explore the more remote parts of this region like Estrillos and Dominical Beaches.
From 5-star luxury resorts to the remote little getaways on the beach there is a wide range of hotels and condos available in the Central Pacific. There is also a wide range of restaurants available. Enjoy everything from the fresh and affordable local cuisine to the finest cuisine prepared by gourmet chefs. One of my favorite spots has an incredible sesame seared Tuna steak dinner with all the trimmings for less than $10.

GETTING THERE |
Most people drive or take a shuttle van to the Central Pacific coast. Driving is not for everyone, many flights arrive at night and the mountain roads can be dangerous and are not very well marked. For some people it’s best to take a shuttle van over the mountains to the beach and then rent a car to explore the coast. |
|
|
The local airlines have daily flights to and from the Quepos area. This is one of the most scenic ways to see Costa Rica. Flights are available daily. |
GETTING AROUND |
|
|
Taxi’s, buses, rental cars and tour guides are readily available and affordable in the Jaco and Quepos area. The roads in the Central Pacific have undergone major improvements in the past few years and getting around is easier than ever |
Access to Isla Tortuga and the world famous Cocos Island is available from the Central Pacific coast
Isla Tortuga is a short trip from Los Suenos Marina or Puntarenas. This palm tree covered island with its beautiful beaches and crystal blue waters is one of the most popular tourism spots in Costa Rica. Enjoy a day of snorkeling, kayaking, picnicking, exploring and sunning on this fabulous island.
The Cocos Island is cousin to the world famous Galapagos Islands. Located about 30 hours by boat from the Costa Rican mainland, these islands are one of Costa Rica’s greatest treasures. The island is most famous for its pirate history, Hammerhead Sharks, coral reef and scuba diving. 10-day trips to Cocos Island are available out of Puntaranus.
