POTRERO GRANDE |

A very remote right point break with very fast and hollow waves. There is no access by road; you can rent a boat out of Playas del Coco or Playa Ocotal. |

NARANJO'S BEACH |
|
|
(Also called Witch's Rock) One of the best beach breaks in the country, with very strong off-shore winds from December to March. This remote spot is located in the Santa Rosa National Park about 38 km north of Liberia. A good 4WD is a must or you can boat over from El Coco or Ocotal. |
GRANDE BEACH |
|
A beach break located about 20 minutes north of Tamarindo. It was recently added to the National Park system to protect the nesting grounds for the Leatherback Turtles. This beach is accessible by road. |

TAMARINDO BEACH |
|
A good central location for surfing the North Pacific. There are plenty of hotels and good restaurants. There are also surf shops and ding repair. Surf spots consist of; Pico Pequeno, a rocky point; El Estero, an excellent river mouth break and Henry’s Point, another rocky point break. |
LANGOSTA BEACH |
|
A right and left point break that curls off the mouth of a small river. Langosta is easily accessible and located about 1 km south of Tamarindo

AVELLANAS |

Where surfers have their choice of a good beach break, an estuary break and a well known reef break, “little Hawaii”. Avellanas is located about 10km south of Tamarindo and is now easily accessible by a graded dirt road. |
NEGRA BEACH |
|
One of the Northern Pacific’s best right reef point breaks. Negra Beach is located 15km down the road from Tamarindo and is accessible by car, during wet season a 4WD is recommended.

NOSARA |
|
A beach break with lefts and rights. This area is known more for its excellent Sport Fishing but it’s not a bad drive from Tamarindo and you may find some good surf. |
COYOTE BEACH, MAL PAIS
& CABUYA |

All good beach breaks in the remote Nicoya Peninsula where 4WD is a must due to the rivers and heavy mud. For some people remote is a good thing with long stretches of empty beaches and Costa Rican sunshine.
